Every individual has their uniqueness, and differences are a natural part of life, including disabilities. People with disabilities have the right to be accepted in the workplace.
Providing space for people with disabilities in the workplace is one of ITM's and its subsidiaries' commitments to equality. The company has long practiced equality concerning gender, race, religion, and nationality.
Equality for people with disabilities will continue to be developed. In the empowerment concept, people with disabilities fall into the vulnerable group category.
A.H. Bramantya Putra, Deputy CEO of ITM, emphasized that the company is increasingly open to providing opportunities for people with disabilities to contribute to the company. "Everyone, including people with disabilities, has the right to a better life, and their work deserves a place in society," he said.
Empowering Together with ITM ITM's commitment to empowering vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, is realized through CSR activities under the "Empowering Together with ITM" and "Learning Together with ITM" programs.
In 2019, ITM received a visit from students and teachers from the Santi Rama Special Needs School for career guidance. In May 2020, ITM conducted training on resume writing for Santi Rama Special Needs School students and implemented an internship program for people with disabilities.
The internship program is one of the HR Department's initiatives to provide opportunities for students or students to gain work experience. Currently, in the Jakarta office, the internship program is focused on people with disabilities amid the Work from Home environment.
M. Dwiki Firmansyah is a person with a speech difficulty (stuttering) who interned from October 2020 to January 2021. Dwiki is an alumnus of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University majoring in Communication Studies and a graduate of the PROGRESSIVE program (Pro-Generasi Kerja Inklusif) organized by Kerjabilitas. Kerjabiilitas is a social enterprise focused on improving access to decent and equal employment for people with disabilities through job matching programs and web and app-based platforms.
In addition to administrative work in the CSR Department, Dwiki also received guidance from other teams such as DCOE, CC, HR-CCC regarding the use of Trello, design, and the basics of Microsoft Office. He also joined the ITM social media team.
During his internship, Dwiki shared his experience with ITM employees about speech difficulty syndrome. This sharing took place during the "KASIH KISAH" event organized by the Bravo BCL (Banpu Heart Change Leader) team on December 17, 2020. As a speaker in the online discussion, Dwiki, who is also one of the founders of the Indonesia Stuttering Community (ISC), talked about the vision and activities of ISC, as well as his efforts to overcome limitations.
"I am grateful for the learning opportunity at ITM," he said, marking the end of his internship program.
He expressed that he gained a lot during his three months of working with the ITM family. Emotions filled the atmosphere during the webinar. It was revealed that Dwiki's presence had instilled enthusiasm among ITM employees who attended due to his determination to overcome limitations and stigma.
