PT Cahaya Power Indonesia (CPI), a subsidiary of PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk (ITM) focused on renewable energy business, continues to expand its installed capacity in the rooftop solar power plant (RTSP) business. The company is working on 10 new RTSP projects with a total installed capacity of 8.3 Megawatt peak (MWp) and is targeted to start operating in September2025.
These sizeable capacity solar rooftop projects are still in the construction stage. They are Indonesia Thai Summit Auto (ITSA) 1.51 MWp, Semen Jawa phase two of 2.274 Mwp, Sinar Sosro Group in the Pandaan project 0.248 MWp, Mojokerto phase two 0.760 MWp and Cibitung with an installed capacity of 0.343 MWp. Others are contributed from Summit Adyawinsa Indonesia, amounting to 1,162 MWp.
Most recently, the Company has completed the development of solar rooftop power plants owned by a building materials provider, PT Caturkarda Depo Bangunan Tbk (DEPO), in three outlets: Tangerang, Bandung, and Bogor, with a total capacity of 694.96 kilowatt-peak (kWp) on-grid.
The inauguration ceremony of solar rooftop power plants Depo Bangunan was held on last May 20, 2025, attended by Mr. Kambiyanto Kettin, President Director of PT Caturkarda Depo Bangunan Tbk, and Mr. Kasidis Niamsiri, President Director of CPI.
Solar rooftop power plants developed by CPI are advanced solar energy systems that provide various strategic benefits to the operations of the three Depo Bangunan outlets, particularly reducing carbon emissions and enhancing operational efficiency.
With a total installed capacity, the three solar rooftop Depo Bangunan outlets are capable of producing 17,684 MWh of clean energy over 20 years, equivalent to a reduction in carbon emissions of approximately 13,868 metric tons of CO2e. This significant reduction in carbon emissions is equivalent to planting around 429,917 trees.
Mr. Kasidis Niamsiri revealed that he is pleased to be a partner of Depo Bangunan in building greener and more efficient business operations, which is a key factor in a company's sustainable growth.
“With the solar rooftop power plant in operation, Depo Bangunan has shown itself to be a pioneer of greener store operations in the building materials retail sector,” stated Mr. Kasidis.
The completion of solar rooftop power plants at three Building Depot outlets adds to CPI's portfolio as a solar power plant developer. As of May 2025, CPI's total installed rooftop solar capacity has reached 17.5 MWp, with a target of 35 MWp by the end of 2025, driven by ongoing developments and agreed partnerships.
With full-service offerings that include design and planning, installation, and maintenance, CPI has served over 50 partners across various cities in Indonesia, including Medan, Jakarta, Pontianak, Bandung, Bali, and Kendari.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kambiyanto Kettin added that the operation of solar rooftop power plants at three Depo Bangunan outlets marks a significant achievement for the company in realizing its commitment to environmental sustainability and achieving more efficient business in the future.
“This plant is also a source of pride that we can contribute to reducing carbon emissions and support the fulfillment of the net-zero emission target set by the Government of Indonesia,” he said.
Renewable Business: The Future of ITM's Business
In line with its commitment to decarbonization, the company is focused on a responsible transition. This means that while mining remains its core business, ITM is also dedicated to investing in greener business segments. Renewable energy will serve as the foundation for future growth.
Through ITM Bhinneka Power (IBP), the company operates in the renewable energy sector, offering solutions such as solar rooftop installations, Independent Power Producer (IPP), and data center services.
Based on projections from IBP for early 2025, the company aims to achieve an additional total installed capacity of 123 MW, representing an increase of over 100% from last year. This projected capacity includes 81.3 MW from solar rooftop projects and 41.4 MW from renewable IPP projects.
