IMM's Speedboat to Prevent Stunted Growth in Children

PT Indominco Mandiri (IMM) donated a speedboat to the Bontang Lestari sub-district to help to tackle cases of stunted growth (also known as stunting) in children. In addition, the speedboat is expected to benefit the Bontang Lestari Community Health Center as a means for the mobile health center to conduct monitoring, particularly in coastal areas that require it.

The donation was handed over by the IMM Mine Head, Pak Era Tjahya Saputra, on March 23 at the Bontang Mayor's Office Hall and received by the Mayor of Bontang, Basri Rase.

"IMM is responsible for preventing the trend of stunted growth in coastal areas of Bontang," said Pak Era. "The speedboat will facilitate the Tihi-Tihi, Selangan, and Loktunggul areas, especially for mothers who have difficulty accessing childbirth services due to the lack of access to land through the sea."

Stunted growth occurs when a child's height is lower than the standard for their age, usually due to chronic malnutrition during the growth period. Children who experience stunted growth typically have a typical risk of other health problems and lower cognitive and psychosocial abilities.

Mayor Basri Rase appreciates IMM's commitment to helping the government's efforts to reduce stunted growth cases by providing this speedboat. "There is no doubt that IMM has contributed a lot to the development of Bontang. Whenever we need help, the response is always fast," he said, expressing his gratitude. ***
