Kukar Regent Appreciates IMM and Kitadin Embalut’s Community Development and Empowerment Programs

The seriousness in formulating and implementing community development and empowerment programs (PPM) reflects the degree of commitment toward sustainability. It is what ITM believes in, that led the Company to remain steadfast to participate in the creation of a better future for the communities surrounding the mine areas. 


PMM program is among the sustainability initiatives of ITM. At all stages of the planning and implementation, ITM always involves the stakeholders to achieve optimal results, both for the Company and its beneficiaries.


Furthermore, ITM also continues to carefully monitor and evaluate the implementation of PPM to ensure the optimum benefits are in place and suitability to the needs of beneficiaries. The efforts and sincerity as described have received positive responses from various parties. 


This time, the appreciation came from the Regent of Kutai Kartanegara, Drs. Edi Damansyah. M.Si to IMM and Kitadin Embalut, two of ITM subsidiaries seen to have made a real contribution to the two pillars of the Kukar government’s development program, health and education.


This appreciation was conveyed by the Regent of Kutai Kartanegara in a ceremony titled Executive Meeting which was held on 12 October 2022 in Jakarta, to bring together the Kukar Regency Government and 104 coal mining companies and contractors operating in Kukar.


Appreciation is given to IMM for the Development of a Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in Santan Ilir Village, Marangkayu District, and the impact that the communities enjoy. Meanwhile, Regent Edi Damansyah’s appreciation for Kitadin Embalut was given for the Company’s support by building SMP Negeri 6 Tenggarong Seberang. 


A Message to Collaborate


In addition to expressing his appreciation to coal mining business players who have carried out their commitment to community empowerment, Regent Edi Damansyah also encouraged the establishment of close communication between companies and the Government which had been initiated through the establishment of the Corporate Social Responsibility Forum (TJSP).


“This meeting reinforces our commitment to maintaining investment, not only deploying security units but how to carry out activities according to existing regulations, responsibilities are carried out properly, so that the community feels the benefits, we build a sense of belonging to the company’s presence in Kukar,” said Edi Damansyah on his remarks.


According to the information shared during the event, 8 main program pillars must be formulated by the company in the PPM Master Plan document, namely education, health, employment, economic independence, socio-culture, environment, formation of community institutions, and infrastructure.


“We want this CSR Forum to continue to be productive in preparing joint programs for the next year so that all the agendas of companies and the government are well planned and integrated, and if we do this together, the community will benefit more," concluded Edi Damansyah.
