Empowering communities, including the cultural aspects within them, is one of the priority pillars for ITM and all its subsidiaries in carrying out their operations. This means that the Company is committed to creating positive value for this pillar through the business it conducts. This commitment goes beyond social responsibility; it is a business principle that ITM believes in, recognizing that the Company can grow and thrive only when it manages its responsibilities to society and the environment.
Two ITM subsidiaries, BEK (PT Bharinto Ekatama) and NPR (PT Nusa Persada Resources), participated in the Dayak Pumpung Hai Festival held in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, from July 27 to 31, 2022. BEK and NPR also supported the festival, which lasted for five days and featured various Dayak arts and cultural activities, including the 1000 Dohong Parade across Borneo, cultural exhibitions, and SME bazaars.
At the festival organized by the Kerukunan Dajak Ngadjoe Kahajan (KDNK), BEK and NPR represented the ITM Group through the Company's booth, providing information about various community empowerment programs carried out in Central Kalimantan. In addition, BEK and NPR booths also offered various community activities such as free health check-ups, health and environmental-friendly lifestyle talk shows, and coloring competitions for children, aimed at strengthening relationships with the community and other stakeholders.
During the exhibition period, there was significant enthusiasm among the public to visit the booths and interact with the Company. Among all booth visitors, the committee noted that 100 people took advantage of the free health check-up program provided by the Company's healthcare facility. Meanwhile, the high level of enthusiasm from visitors was also evident in the children's coloring competition. A total of 40 children participated in the coloring competition for elementary school and kindergarten students. The strong enthusiasm for BEK and NPR's presence at one of the largest cultural festivals in Central Kalimantan was also demonstrated by government officials, traditional leaders, journalists, and artists. Perdie M. Yoseph, the Regent of Murung Raya Regency, was one of the figures who visited the BEK and NPR booths.
ITM's management believes that in the era of rapid digitalization and evolving innovation, efforts to preserve culture and increase cultural awareness are crucial to maintain the values of ancestral heritage. BEK and NPR's support and participation in the 2022 Dayak Pumpung Hai Festival are a manifestation of the Company's commitment to cultural preservation, one of the pillars of ITM Group's community empowerment program.
