Every year the Company monitors and calculates emission levels. Identification includes sources of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) and calculation of GHG emission volumes which include carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and hydro-fluoro-carbons (HFCs). The calculation method is adjusted to the emission source and the gas measurement results are converted into Tons of CO2 - eq. The emission calculations are also classified into scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 according to their source in operating activities or the wider value chain. The results of these calculations are reported regularly in the sustainability report.
One of the initiatives we undertake to reduce greenhouse gases is the use of biofuels. Since 2020, all ITM subsidiaries have used Biosolar B30 in mining activities for operational vehicles.
One of the keys to positively impact our climate is by using environmentally friendly energy, such as biofuels, solar hybrid power plants, as well as the efficient use of energy. We apply several policies for consuming energy efficiently and in environmentally friendly fashion. Every year the energy usage is audited to improve efficiency.
In our operation, mining activity requires continuous electricity supply where ITM is also rely on our own solar hybrid power plant on its 2 concessions, which not only produce more reliable energy but also more environmental-friendly.
The implementation of digitalization-based information has been vital in providing the required information in our effort in reducing emissions . In addition, we conduct periodic energy audits, the results of which are verified by a certified independent party.
