ITM and Mulawarman University have signed a memorandum to collaborate in areas related to Corporate Social Responsibility and the Three Pillars of Higher Education.
In his address at the event, which took place at the Bundar building of Mulawarman University in Samarinda on October 3rd, ITM Director Ignatius Wurwanto stated that higher education institutions are strategic partners for ITM in addressing environmental issues. As an example, PT Jorong Barutama Greston has collaborated with Lambung Mangkurat University in Banjarmasin to conduct post-mining studies for the ITM subsidiary.
The scope of this collaboration will largely involve the company's Corporate Social Responsibility programs, which have been in place for each of the subsidiary companies like PT Indominco Mandiri, PT Kitadin, PT Bharinto Ekatama, and PT Trubaindo Coal Mining.
With this collaborative framework in place, existing programs will be strengthened and expanded, as conveyed by Fiki Abubakar, ITM's CSR Head. The event was also attended by Mine Heads or representatives from ITM subsidiaries such as IMM, TCM, BEK, and Kitadin.
Mulawarman University's Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Masjaya M.Si, expressed his hope that private companies and higher education institutions can create monumental and beneficial works for future generations.
"Leave a good legacy for generations 10 to 100 years into the future," he said. Prof. Masjaya appreciated ITM's initiative and also expressed his desire that the MoU would give birth to other strategic initiatives for the development of East Kalimantan, especially in the fields of education and natural conservation.
