The 2020 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Awards were given to IMT for the categories of Transparency in Governance (Rank 2), Openness in the Environment, and Openness to Issuers (LQ45).

PT Jorong Barutama Greston, ITM subsidiary, received gold award at Indoensia CSR Awards 2020.The awards were given to JBG for two programs, namely Bokashi Organic Fertiliser Business by group of farmers of Karang Rejo Transmigration Village, and the Solar-Cell Power Generation Utilisation for Broiler Farming in Batalang Village.

ITM received awards as follows. Four Stars Top GRC Award 2020, in addition to the High Performing Board of Commissioners Award,
The Most Committed GRC Leader Award, and High Performing Corporate Secretary Award.TOP GRC Awards recognised achievements in the areas of Governance (GCG), Risk (Management Risk), and Compliance (Management Compliance). 

For its action towards the environment, such as implementing DAS project and supporting Kutai National Park, IMM received the “Partner of Natural Resources and Ecosystems” award, given by Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

IMM and JBG received four-star ratings. IMM raised the topic of coastal area conservation in the Bontang Coal Port area while JBG presented the added value of biodiversity conservation in area management as part of the post-mining program
